Cottage cheese, hail damage, orange peel, whatever you call it, cellulite is tough to tackle because chances are if your mom has it, you do too (genetics pffft). Lumpy skin is caused when fat presses up against the vertical connective tissue that surrounds fat cells in our thighs, butt, arms and tummy for example. This causes the cells to bulge resulting in a dimpled effect. Fret not! Even if it runs in your family, here are 3 ways to minimize its appearance:
STEP 1: HEALTHY DIET + H2O
Quick, grab a glass of water and chug it! This doesn't require a gym membership, and less than 45 seconds of your time. This is one of the quickest ways you can begin - drinking plenty of agua! By increasing your daily intake of water, your body will begin to shed its excess fat (including the fat stored as cellulite, yes please). Water will also help strengthen the collagen in your skin, helping to reduce the lumpy look.
Eat plenty of fiber, whole grain foods (like bran and oat cereals), fruits and vegetables as they help to remove waste and toxins from the intestinal tract.

STEP 2: EXERCISE REGULARLY
Ok, so since we know cellulite is basically fat, excess weight can contribute to it. That's why its important to dust off the yoga mat and hop to it! Physical exercise like walking, running, swimming, yoga, etc., several times a week will help to burn fat and keep cellulite at bay.
